Hands on Learning

Graduation Day!

End of the Year!
We ended the school year with a party and graduation practice. They all did so wonderful this year. We could see the kids grow tons in the short 8 months that we taught them. What a smart, fun group of kids. They will do great in kindergarten!!

Policeman and Nurse Visits
On Thursday we had two special visitors at the preschool. We had Deputy Sheriff Pete Jensen and Nurse Nicole Fletcher come. They came to talk to us about what they do and how to stay safe and healthy.
Policeman Pete told us to stay away from strangers especially if they are offering you something or asking you for help. If a stranger approaches you at the park or around town/in your yard you yell, "Stranger, Stranger!!" and go find your parents or a policeman. The kids got to see what he carries on his belt, be "handcuffed" and try the siren in his police car. (William kept telling us how policemen keep us safe from bears!! It's true, they do that too!) They loved it and enjoyed learning more about what policemen do. Thank you Officer Pete!
After some wiggle time and snack time Nurse Nicole came in to talk to us. She showed us a bag of special nurse tools. The kids loved listening to her heart beating through the stethoscope. We talked about eating healthy, coughing into our elbows and washing our hands; things that keeps us healthy. The kids learned when you wash your hands to use soap, get in between the fingers and on the backs of their hands, then to wash long enough to sing the ABCs before they dry off. They really enjoyed learning about what nurses do and that they aren't scary, only there to help. Thank you Nurse Nicole for coming to visit us. (Unfortunately we were all too occupied to take pictures while Nicole was there. Sorry!)
